Prediction market platform Polymarket has delisted a controversial betting market concerning the fate of a missing U.S. service member, citing a violation of its internal “integrity standards.” The decision followed significant public and political criticism over the ethics of allowing wagers on a potential humanitarian crisis.

The market in question asked users to bet on whether U.S. authorities would confirm the rescue of a pilot reportedly shot down over Iran. At the time of its removal, over 60% of the betting volume indicated that users did not expect a rescue to be confirmed by the upcoming Saturday deadline.
